  • You will be given a main point of contact who will get to know your company and your kickstart employee
  • We will write a Job description and advert for your kickstart role
  • Assist in the recruitment process
  • Provide you with an employment contract for your kickstart employee
  • Provide your kickstart employee with access to over 40 on-line courses ranging from computer skills to health and safety training (and everything in between)
  • Provide employability skills training to your kickstart placement in the form of workshops in CV writing, interview skills and a career pathway session.

 

Our package of support covers all the mandatory obligations of taking on a kickstart employee leaving you to focus on getting your new employee up and running in their new role.

FAQ

Yes, the Job centre will send you suitable candidates that meet the requirements set out in your job advert / job description. You will then be able to select a suitable employee from this pool of applicants.  

No, at the end of the six month placement you may be in a position to offer a role to your kickstart employee, however there is no obligation and in this case the employment will end at the end of the six months.

Yes and no, you must provide a minimum of 25 hours per week and pay the national minimum wage to the kickstart employee. If you wish to offer more hours and a higher rate of pay then this will be communicated to candidates in the job advert submitted at the scheme application stage.

Once a kick start employee has started work you can offer more hours than agreed however the employee may not want to accept and therefore it is important to be clear about the expectations of the work pattern and hours from the start.

No, the kickstart employee will be treated the same as any other employee in terms of the standard of behaviour and conduct expected of them. If the employer has reasons to terminate the employment before the 6 month placement finishes then they can however funding will also cease and potentially a percentage of the £1, 500 development grant will be re-claimed.
